chrome magic serenade

So I was just mentioning to RainKing over in Germany how I should've just sent him my CDII cd since I'm not listening to it anyway. Not to say I won't listen to it again. Just so much music and too little time and, when it comes down to it, I guess we put on what it is we want to hear. And listening to CDII was more like a chore. =:-o

Some background. CDII = Chrome Dreams II, the new Neil Young album about to be released on Oct 23rd. http://www.human-highway.com/ plus the two related email lists. A little hobby of mine since March 1995.

Maybe this is where Neil and Me go our separate ways.

I've had only one cd in the car this week, Steve Earle's new one, Washington Square Serenade. Springsteen's Magic made it into the house over the weekend for some singing in the shower and has not yet made it back out.

Btw, they both have a song about satellite radio on the new albums. Many of you probably already know Springsteen's, Radio Nowhere. Earle's is called...ahem.....Satellite Radio. I think he has his own show for Sirius.

Earle's been on repeat. It may very well be my favorite cd of the year. After all, he plays the mandolin. What more could one ask for? And it makes me homesick for nyc. I was thinking about the last time I was in Washington Square Park. And about another time when I was down in the Village and caught some guy trying to steal my car at 2am. I chased him on foot for about a block before I came to my senses and realized what it was I was doing.

Anyway, I set aside some time tonight to watch the accompanying DVD and enjoyed that, too. Might I mention here that I never even watched the Neil DVD that came with one of his recent albums. Which one was it? I'm not even sure! Oh wait, Living With War?? I ordered the DVD edition of CDII as well. I suppose that will be another waste. I should just cancel my amazon order. What's the point?

Some neil fan I am.

You know the way Neil can't produce real good music when he's happy? His best always came from his pain. That's been my opinion anyway. Well, Earle's real happy with Allison Moorer, his new wife. She's been singing with him for awhile already and was with him when I last saw him. Now that man can still produce good art in spite of his happiness.

So all three of these guys who I've been talking about here.....Neil, Bruce, and Steve......all have their wives on their albums. At least Steve's wife can sing. She's the only one who got there on her own merit.

Get Steve's album.
